Preventative Dentistry

Preventive dentistry is the practice of caring for your teeth to keep them healthy. This helps to avoid cavities, gum disease, enamel wear and more.

Visit Your Dentist

You should see your dentist at least once per year for an exam to check for any problems in the teeth or gums. If you’re at a high risk for dental problems, you’ll likely benefit from more frequent dental visits. Dental cleanings and exams allow dentists to identify problems and take care of them right away.

There are many forms of preventive dentistry, such as daily brushing and dental cleanings. These practices are designed to ensure that teeth are clean, strong, and white. Children should be taught proper oral hygiene at an early age.

Restorative Dentistry

Restorative dentistry is what your dentist does procedure wise to keep your mouth healthy and fully functioning. This includes a number of procedures, for example, if you get any dental fillings.

Dentistry procedures can fix and help your mouth stay healthy and the most common procedure is the filling of any cavities. Filling cavities help prevent any more decay or harm to be done to that tooth or any surrounding teeth.

Orthodontics

Orthodontic treatment (usually with braces) is most often used to improve the appearance & alignment of crooked, protruding or crowded teeth, and to correct problems with the bite.

NHS orthodontic treatment is free for people under the age of 18 with a clear health need for treatment. But because of high demand, there can be a long waiting list.

Hygienist Services

Hygienist Services

With more adult teeth being lost through gum disease rather than tooth decay, regular dental hygiene treatment is essential to keeping your gums and teeth healthy. Regular visits to a hygienist combined with dental check-ups will greatly improve the appearance of your teeth and your oral health.

It may be recommended by your dentist that you visit the hygienist regularly. The frequency will be determined by your clinical needs but also by your own personal desire to have your teeth cleaned and polished regularly.
